Anyway Jap, i hope you get better soon. :)

putting the devil in the daredevils...
For the uninformed who do not know me, i stay in Block D of Sheares hall and the logo we go by is that of a daredevil.
There's nothing wrong with my block, in my opinion it's the best block around. BUT... the block is too damn PURE. not enough people booze or smoke etc. Currently when we have piss fests only about 5 people would turn up. NOT ENOUGH!
This is the plan...
I've come to the conclusion that the block doesnt drink because there's no badboy in a position to influence the block and maybe recruit more members into the side of alcohol. From now till the elections for the next block head, i'm gonna persuade all the underground devils to come out of hiding and vote for the planted badboy in the electorate next year. haha. The ultimate objective? put a badboy into the Block Committee. MUAHAHAHAHA.
Ok, not that i'm some crazy drunkard, but the thing is, we're in the freaking university here. We're not kids. I wouldn't expect those who don't smoke to start, but i do hope those who don't drink can, just a little, just for kicks. And it's not as if i'ld allow people to get so drunk they cant keep their heads up or their dinner in, but just enough to be just a little high. And it's not as if the guys here want to take advantage of the grils (hmmm... maybe some of the others do...), but even if they did, dear old me would stop them. I'm sure those amongst us who drink know what i mean, ALCOHOL IS A NECESSARY TOOL FOR ADULT FUN. Being too pure is BORING...
But... the problem is... there arent many badboys who would be willing to run for such a position. It's almost a consensus among Dee Underground (that's what the non-goodie-two-shoes in my block call ourselves, haha) that i should be the one to represent it next year. But i'm not so sure i want to, having such a pathetic academic score and other commitments too.
Who will put the bell on the cat?

yoo hoo everybody! i'm gonna put this on my back, right between the blades, on tuesday of the coming week. I was supposed to do it a while ago but the person i was supposed to do it with abandoned me. Haha. Anyway, i'm gonna do it on tuesday, so you can try to stop me if you want. I'm not gonna tell you where i'm gonna do it so you cant anyway. :)
My tatoo!!!!Think its a good idea? think its a bad idea? like it? don't like it?
honestly, it doesn't matter to me...

what are these things called?
anyway, i was just surfing around when i got this off a friends blog. What are they called? memes? why on earth they're called that nobody will ever be able to answer. it's kinda long though, but i couldnt sleep so i just decided to do it... This meme was built for males though, females, don't read it. (but i bet you're all going to anyway so don't say i didn't warn you :p)
About Yourself1. How old are you?
21
2. Marital Status?
Single
3. How many siblings do you have?
2 brothers, one invisible sister

i suppose?
7. What do you do for a living?

18. Do you need to be loved?
To a certain degree, doesnt everyone?
19. What is love to you?
Uhmmm... isn't this the same as question 17? hello? meme people? repetitive questions to make up 10 for each category doesnt help anything.
20. Who was the last person you said that you loved?
My dad. some thing's you just have to say when you have the chance to say it.
Sex21. Are you a virgin?

26. When was the last time you had sex?
Let's not mention dates to protect identities. :)
27. When you have sex, do you fantasize that it's someone else?

Misc41. If you could go back in time, where would you go?

maybe i am?

publicity!!!
ok, i cant take this. I write and I write in www.adventuresfboringman.blogspot.com, but NOBODY checks it out. So to all you people out there who likes my style of writing, please visit this thing, and comment on it. I update the place at least once a week, and the current story is that of a horny old private investigator who's tagging a mega hot babe for her dad. Don't understand what i'm saying? then go check out the webbie and you'll find yourself enlightened. Whether you laugh or cry when you read it doesn't matter, just reflect your emotions so i'll know how to improve. :)

use every tool in your body
dear all who happen to read this dump i call a blog. it is NOT a good idea to lay out a liter of chivas and 12 cans of beer in front of someone who just broke up. Through yesterday night and today morning, 4 of my friends came over to my hall to watch the Champions league game and to get ourselves piss-drunk. More than 8 triple shots and 3 cans of beer later, i found myeslf in one of two positions; wretching over the toilet bowl or sitting in my chair and drinking even more. Somehow, even with my limited thinking ability, i managed to put up a post all about my ex, but I've deleted that post because i felt that would seriously be disrespecting her, even though i cant remember what the hell i said in it. Cos the only respectable thing you can say when you're drunk is 'I AM DRUNK', and nothing else. :) I hope no one read it in the hour or so that it was up. doubt that many people come here anyway, considering the inactivity on my taggie. i hope she didn't read it, but i don't think she comes here anymore anyway either.
Anyway, prior to last night's episode i've been working out with weights and runs etc, my upper packs are actually starting to show a little. What's the moral of the story? if you need to lose weight, break up. And within days you're gonna start exercising again. haha.
my arms are aching and my head is spinning and my legs are crying out to get me off them. What can I do now? Apparently i have no choice but to do my lab report, because my body isn't capable of much else.
damn... now i'm out of boooze... anyone going overseas?

the power of love...
Dad and mum just got back from Indonesia. Dad was happy as hell, looking as healthy as he has ever been. Mum was happy as hell, looking as healthy as she's ever been. They both looked so refreshed, it looked like they had just been on their first honeymoon, but they've been married 30 years now. Mum and Dad don't have to say it, but it is obvious to anyone who sits by and watches for long enough. My friends who come over find it so sweet that mum and dad are still so lovey dover at their age. Undoubtedly, this is the best example of true love i can ever find.
After seeing them the way they are, and going through what i've just recently been through, i told myself that i CANNOT lose my faith in love. That even if i have to encounter heartbreak and depression along the way on my journey to love's discovery, i cannot lose my faith in it. Mum and Dad have been through so much together. Race was one, neither my mum's nor dad's side appreciated the fact that they were marrying out. Religion another. Health is becoming a problem now. And yet, their love has overcome all obstacles and reached the state it is in now.
I can safely say it would be anybody's dream to be able to love like how my mum and dad love. they've been together 30 years, but even if they dont see each other for a day, they begin to miss the other's company. In the past month or so, i've been thinking to myself that love is a useless emotion, that eventually love would only lead to pain. But today, when i see my mum and dad that way, i realize that love is the most powerful thing a man can have. I realize that even if i encounter heartbreak, pain and depression again, it will all be worth it when i find the right girl. I may have been wrong about who was the right girl before, but i cannot stop searching now. Even now when my mum just pulled through cancer and my dad has blood pressure problems, their love is pulling them through.
And it is an amazing sight to behold.
Now that i think about it, you can have all the money in the world, you can have all the sex in the world, but if you cannot say "There is someone out there who truly loves me, who will stand by me to death, who accepts my every flaw and who I love too", then you can never consider your life a success. You cannot live until you have loved and been loved.
I guess I should thank you for the last part at least.
In the darkest of times, love will be your guiding light

something i forgot to mention...
The old man Adrian told me last week, that he's gonna be leaving SHAM (that's my hall's amateur radio thing) and i'm gonna take over. hmmm... i kind of saw it coming anyway so it's no big deal. :)
And... about Fry. that's my youngest bro. He's a magician and he performs all kinds of weird tricks, the best being with cards but he's slowly diversifying into more visual magic. and now... finally...he's going to get a SHOW, on TV!!! whoo hoo! his producers just pushed his show to the MDA today, and they approved. It's going to be on Suria and it's gonna start screening in late June or early July. It's going to be a mix of English and Malay (hopefully his Malay can pull through though), but the main thing is, this is gonna boost his publicity a hell lot. He finally gets his big break. :)
Way to go Fry! i'm stinking proud of you. :)

crazy poker card madness...
I just got back from playing poker cards with my 2 bros downstairs. Honestly, it was mad. First of all, we started playing poker. Just the normal game. Fry was deprived of the booze cos he's underaged though, and me and Bman (that's my elder bro) had our fill. But Fry vowed never to start drinking so i guess he feels he's better off. But... i remember when i was a dear teenager like him i vowed never to start drinking or smoking, that i would never try drugs, that i would never think of a woman intimately till after marriage. Hmmm... the innocence of youth. Good thing i've never done the other thing i promised myself too; never engage in coitus with another man.
After poker, we went on to the dumber stuff. First up, Indian Poker, where we stick the cards on our heads and basically look like morons. Damn fun. The penalty for me and bman was booze, and the penalty for Fry was to drink a whole cup of water.
After Indian Poker, we moved on to In Between. For those who know how to play it, it's a high stakes game of luck and nothing else. So we gave out the chips again, and the penalty remained the same.
Next up; Spoons. This was the craziest of all. The first person to get four of a kind grabs a spoon on the table, and the other 2 have to sprint to another spoon placed 5 meters away. The one who doesnt end up with a spoon, drinks.
By the end of the games, Bman was totally wack and Fry's bladder was bursting out of his skin. I was... alright actually. Not a good sign, apparently i can drink too much. Worse still, i had to support Bman to bring him up the stairs, AND i had to clean up Fry's watery puke. Can you see the problem with a high alcohol tolerance level? you're always the one to clean up. And this time, i cannot implement the policy that i use on all my friends when they come over to get piss drunk (once you get drunk, you sleep on the porch) cos the person in question is my brother.
Anyway, it was a pretty good interaction session between myself and my two brothers, having had so little time to spend with them before.
And to those who read this, Happy Chinese New Year! I think that goes to everyone who reads my blog cos i dont think i have non-Chinese friends who come here. Anyway, to those who understand that non-Chinese people do NOT celebrate CNY even if they can speak the language fluently (DUH?), i hope you also understand that we do not get hong baos and would love a charitable donation. :)

Aunt Agony anyone?
i've been Aunt Agony to alot of people in the past few weeks. Adrian (ironic, considering he's 7 times my age), Hui Qing, Rodney, Jeannie etc. Apparently ALOT of people are having relationship problems during this period, and apparently i'm a good counsellor. haha. My dad's genes are in me. Or maybe it's my shit-ass LOW voice that people find soothing. :p Anyway, my room has semi-officially been converted into a counselling den, and my friends from all over the block come down to talk to me when they need a listening ear. Again, here's proof that i went into the wrong line of work cos my mouth moves better than my body does. damn... :p
And as i dish out advice to others, i reflect upon what's going on through my own mind. Then i realize it's easy to say but not so easy to do. It's so easy to tell someone else to move on, but the wounds inflicted on me are yet to heal, and they're only getting bigger and bigger with the way things are between us now.
She wont even talk to me as a friend, she ignores me and cuts me out of her life after bringing me into it. And i cannot understand why she's being so mean to me now. Maybe she wants me to hate her so that i'll move on myself. Maybe she wants me to hate her so she has a reason to move on.
But i cant seem to hate her. Hatred is a childish inclination.
Yeah, everybody's favaourite line when they become Aunt Agony themselves; "forget the past and look to the future". So easy to say, so difficult to do. Especially when I had already built a future on what i had in the past, and it was ripped from me with maximum pain.
Hey tubby, look on the bright side. A new future awaits me now. A future with more me in it.
I am my own Aunt Agony. :)
the past was full of roses and the present is full of thorns,
but from this garden of horrors my future will be reborn.

false alarm...
yesterday night, Fry was hysterical when he called.
Here's the story. Mum got out of bed and called out to my dad, but my dad didn't reply. She shook him a little, and he didnt move. My mum flew into a panic, cos my dad's a very light sleeper. She woke my 2 bros up, and the smaller one gave me a call. Dad still didn't wake through all this, and given the past events, everybody was getting worried as hell. Then, finally, he woke up and asked, "what's happening?"
Yeah, it was just a false alarm. But I suppose it shows how worried we are. And this question has been on our minds since he collapsed last week. how many more times will he wake?
I suppose i can see the humour in such a situation. Where everybody's going mad and the person in question has no idea what's going on. But i can't bring myself to laugh at it.
It's not funny if it's happening to you

Butterfly Effect...
ok, honestly, the sheares bazaar wasn't that hot. in fact i found it pretty bad. Everything is so plain and drab, there isn't much unique stuff that's on sale, there isn't that great food around. (good thing there's still the Milo van though).
Anyway, the only thing that actually made the place interesting was SHAM Radio. Cos we're taking dedications and shouting them out across the forum it actually livens up the place somewhat. and... we're the only committee to actually put in effort in making a banner and decorating our booth. (the decor ultimately collapsed but yeah, we were the only comm who had the effort showing.)
And... i just woke up from my first sleeep, albeit only 4 hours, in 36 hours. whoo hoo! here's what's been happening chronologically in the past 40 hours.
0800, Sunday - took my dad to the doc. Bman drived and i supported him. it's quite sad to see him like this...
1100, Sunday - brought dad back.
1130, Sunday - had the usual family lunch, at home this time cos dad isnt really that mobile.
1230, Sunday - sat down to do my assignment
1500, Sunday - Bman sent me down to Clementi
1600, Sunday - went shopping for the stuff i'ld need for the SHAM booth. Called Adrian to ask him what materials he'ld need for the booth. I got all the stuff i needed for the booth at quite a low price. (watch for repercussions) and i didn't get contact glue.
1730, Sunday - back in hall, sat down to do another assignment
2000, Sunday - started the construction of the booth
2001, Sunday - Adrian decided that if i can get all the stuff, i can handle the setup/whatever of the booth. He practically put me fully in charge of the booth. dammit... I hate the Butterfly Effect.
2300, Sunday - briefed the other Shammers on what's supposed to happen tmr and made advertisement recordings. some of the ads are actually good. and of course, dear old me wrote the scripts, with Kay Ping's help of course. :)
0000, Monday - completed my first assignment. I should be happy but i still have another assignement.
0300, Monday - completed my second assignment. i should be happy but i still have to construct the booth.
0400, Monday - continued construction of the booth with Caroline and the old man Adrian. Caroline managed to call me a slave driver in this time. I didnt know she was planning to get even later on. Butterfly effect Part 2.
0700, Monday - Construction completed! but we'ld still have to shift it to Forum. Actually looked pretty good before it fell over. should have bought the contact glue. Butterfly Effect at work again.
0800, Monday - went down to Forum to set up the booth. Learnt that Adrian can be a noisy pain in the ass with alot of bad ideas that dont work. Other than that, he's alright. :) It's the generation gap thing...
1100, Monday - completed construction of booth, hung around till it was my first shift at SHAM. Got cheated by Kylinn into buying a donation for a charity. She's so insistent its nerve-racking. Everywhere i turn i'd see her smiling at me and shoving a clipboard into my face. Maybe i dont mind cos she's quite cute. haha. :p
1200, Monday - FIRST SHIFT!!! did it with Jeannette. pretty fun shouting out dedications but sometimes pretty painful too. and yes, i actually got a response from the crowd. Maybe i went into the wrong line of work. My mouth moves better than my body does. haha.
1300, Monday - handed over to the hired deejay for an hour who thinks he's so hot. I actually think he tried to make a pass at me but for his own good i hope not. And... honestly, he wasn't that great a deejay too. Tris is better.
1400, Monday - Somehow i got posted to the waffle shop and sold waffles for an hour and a half with a guy who talked so much and heard so little. and the times that he didnt talk there was a dead silence. I could really feel the chemistry with him. Thanks Caroline for the sabotage. I'll never push you too hard again.
1600, Monday - SECOND SHIFT! with Ernnie this time. spewed out the usual nonsense and twisted Kaiwen's and Rodney's words enough so that it seemed like they shot themselves in the foot. I love my creative mind. :) I borrowed a pencil from QJ for people to write dedications on. This may seem insignificant, but there's always a butterfly effect.
1800, Monday - SHIFT OVER!!! and end of bazaar day 1 too, shacked as hell. I dragged my lifeless shell away from the place the moment i could pick my feet off the floor.
1830, Monday - I met Darrel for dinner at Fong Seng, he met a zombie.
1930, Monday - dinner ended and i headed back to my roo
1945, Monday - called home to check how dad is
2000, Monday - SLEEP, glorious sleep
0000, Tuesday - QJ had to give me a call to ask about his pencil. DAMN.
i've been busy as hell. and tired as hell. and irritated as hell cos i had to get a call to wake me up when all i want to do is sleep.
good thing my lecturer told us last week that he'ld cancel the lect today or i'ld be in there but my mind would wander to my nice comfy, bedbug-infested bed.
Adrian, let it be known that if i do not get points for SHAM, i will cut through your wrinkled old head, gouge your brain and keep your eyeballs as a souvenir to remind the rest of the old people in the world that this young man expects credit where credit is due. haha. I can imagine his stressed face now. :p
Yeah, that's the buttefly effect, how small and seemingly insignificant things can lead to a much much bigger repercussion.
Shit... here comes another day

valiance...
today we lost to Eusoff at the IHG prelims. At least we remained fighting till the end. I am so damn proud to be a part of this team. :) we started as nothings, and now we're out. but not before making Temasek shake in their boots, and giving Eusoff a run for their money. We lost to Temasek on a completely unfair penalty, one that they absolutely didnt deserve. and today, we battled against a team with 7 of their 11 players in the IVP. oh... and kids, heres a tip, getting a boot in the face could get you injured... like the one i got today. :p
anyway. we're out of IHG, unfair, but at least we didn't fail ourselves. Way to go Team Sheares!
and Fry called just now to tell me about his O level results. At least i know my brother is safely going to the polytechnic now. way to go Fry!
hmmm... Fry just called again. not so good news this time... my dad collapsed today because his blood pressure level suddenly shot up. Apparently he's stable now but i'm worried about him too. today of all days, today when i've already suffered enough misery to this point, and now this. hai... it feels like everything is going the way i dont want it to... havent i been treated unfairly enough by the world already?
i hope you're alright dad.

nomenclature...
today i went for a soccer match. Nothing special about the match other than the fact that I got kne-ed in the eye as i was rushing back and my goalkeeper was rushing out. I felt the full impact, and i had to lie down for a minute as the concussion wore off. Plus, now i have a bruised eye to make sure i wont forget not to be so brave next time. Wonderful.
Then we went to Ginza for lunch, nothing special again. Then i saw this crowd gathering around a chair, so i went to take a closer look. There, under the chair was a puppy the size of my 2 fists put together, i'm serious, it was that small. And.. i wasn't thinking about the puppy, i was thinking about who would have loved to see it. That puppy was one of the cutest i've ever seen, and it was SO TINY!!! and when i stuck out my hand it came over to lick it and nibble on my hand. It was still toothing so it didn't hurt. It was actually quite heartwarming that the puppy would come over to me and ignore the rest. But when i thought about it, the puppy probably just came cos my hands are chunkier and have more meat. Dammit, time to stop attracting meat eaters.
anyway, this is the puppy. DAMN CUTE!!!!

yeah, the pix suck but the puppy was damn bloody cute anyway. anyway, on to the main topic of the day. Nomenclature... I wrote this article for my hall publications so i thought i'ld just put it up here. If there are Shearites reading this, too bad, you're gonna read it again soon.
I bring to you... an original piece entitled, "This is my name."
{
My name is Dean, Dean Amir Singh to be exact. And yes, it is spelt D-E-A-N.
For the past two years of my tertiary life, I’ve been looking for the one person who can actually tell a joke about my name that I’ve never heard before. I’ve heard it all. From friends (“Dean can you put me on your list?”), from family (“Son, you cant skip school, you’re the Dean.” and the irony of it is that she named me.), from superiors (“How can you have bad grades, you’re the Dean!) and even from the actual Dean’s office (“Sorry, what’s your name again? Dean? Then isn’t this your office then? HAHAHAHA”).
And I’ve heard a million more from all over the university.
“Dean, if you became a Dean, would you be Dean Dean?”
One of my friends told her other friends that she knew the Dean, and took up a dare to ask “The Dean” out. Then she gave me a call.
“Dean, you have to set a good example for your subordinates.”
Even my ex wasn’t spared. When she introduced herself to my blockmates, they had a lengthy discussion about getting to know her better so they could get onto my list.
Yes, I’ve heard it all.
Allow me to get this straight, Dean IS an actual name. Deans of the past have had their names written down in history. People like James Dean, Howard Dean, Dean Richmond. Somehow you never seemed to hear others telling lame jokes about their names.
But hey, look on the bright side. There are some advantages to having a joke told the moment you introduce yourself. My name is a wonderful icebreaker. And could you forget a person by this name? No. It is nearly impossible. Especially not when you’re schooling.
